Grilled Banana Strawberry Wraps

Grilled Banana Strawberry Wraps

This is one of those recipes that isn’t really a recipe; just a few casual ingredients thrown together for a deliciously easy breakfast, dessert or snack!  It’s also a great way to use up leftover fruit (banana and strawberries) you have on hand and load up on vitamins.  Bananas pack a fiber and potassium punch while strawberries add antioxidants, fiber, folate and Vitamin C.  Because these wraps are made of high fiber carbs (from the wrap and fruit) and heart healthy fat (natural nut butter) only, I like to add a complete protein on the side like egg whites for breakfast or even a quick protein shake made of protein powder and water for a balanced meal. Having a balance of complete protein plus carbs and fat stabilizes your blood sugar to help you naturally burn fat, build muscle and feel your best. Enjoy!

Grilled Banana Strawberry Wraps

INGREDIENTS
  • gluten free or high fiber, low-carb wraps
  • banana, sliced thin
  • strawberries, sliced thin
  • natural nut butter (peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter)
  • agave nectar
  • your favorite cooking spray, if needed
INSTRUCTIONS

Heat a frying pan over medium heat. Coat lightly with your favorite cooking spray (you can skip this if you are using a non-stick pan).  Spread a thin layer of natural nut butter on one half of a gluten free or high fiber, low carb wrap. Add thinly sliced strawberries and banana. Drizzle lightly with a touch of agave nectar. Grill in a frying pan until the outside is slightly caramelized and the inside is slightly melted (a few minutes). Enjoy!

SO, WHAT’S THE NUTRITION BALANCE?

This recipe is mostly carbohydrates and fat. Add a complete protein on the side like egg whites for breakfast or a protein shake (protein powder mixed with water) for a balanced meal that will stabilize your blood sugar.
